On Friday night, Sipe Center re-opened with a performance from Masters of Soul. Friday night’s show was also the first performance for the band in over a year; the performers were just as thrilled as we were to back on stage! (You can hear more from the band about that in this clip from WHSV.) This Motown tribute band had the entire audience on their feet dancing and singing along! Masters of Soul covered a little bit of everything, from James Brown to Donna Summer, Gladys Knight, Al Green, The Four Tops and Aretha Franklin! Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community sponsored this energetic crowd-pleasing performance. VMRC is a big supporter of the arts and sponsored three live performances this season.
Watch this review of Masters of Soul from Sarah and Scott Shifflett. This was their first time at Sipe Center and they are excited to come back in the future. (And don’t worry, their review was given to a staff member six feet away, in an empty lobby!)
