On Friday, the Central Shenandoah Health District (which includes Bridgewater, Harrisonburg, and Rockingham County) moved into “Phase 2” for COVID-19 vaccinations. This is nine days earlier than the statewide target of opening COVID-19 vaccinations to everyone aged 16 and older on April 18. Approximately 36% of Virginians have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, with about 20% of Virginians fully vaccinated.
So what does this mean?
Previous phases (1a, 1b, and 1c) were targeted for people that included front-line health care workers, individuals over the age of 65, and those with underlying health conditions. Phase 2 means that anyone over the age of 16 who wants a COVID-19 vaccine is eligible to get one.

The Virginia Department of Health continues to recommend that you register for a COVID-19 vaccine at vaccinate.virginia.gov. This website will allow you to register to get the COVID-19 vaccine, check the status of your registration, and verify your registration information.
