Bridgewater’s Oldest Resident

The next time you’re at Sipe Center, you may notice a new addition in the lobby. The wooden bench photographed above was crafted using some fallen limbs off the Town’s 300+ year old white oak tree. The tree sustained some damage from a storm back in 2020, and we saved the broken limbs in hopes of creating something special from them.

Sean Hanifee, a local chainsaw and custom-carving artist, was commissioned to craft some items from the old oak tree. He created this bench and one that we’ve placed in the Bridgewater Community Center adjacent to the Help Desk.

So the next time you’re at Sipe Center or the BCC, we hope you’ll take a moment to enjoy these very unique benches!
