The Town of Bridgewater and the Shenandoah Valley Soil & Water Conservation District are hosting a Rain Barrel Workshop on Saturday, May 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Sandy Bottom Shelter. At the workshop, you’ll learn how to convert a heavy plastic pickle barrel into a functional rain barrel and how to install and maintain a rain barrel at your home. The workshop will also explain the impact of rain barrels on local waterways and water conservation efforts.
Registration for the workshop is $60, which includes the barrel, construction supplies, and use of tools to assemble your rain barrel. Wear comfortable clothes that may get a little dirty (work gloves will be helpful) and drive a vehicle that will fit your new 55 gallon rain barrel.
