Reduction of Runoff
Did we mention how rain barrels help with storm water management?! When it rains, runoff picks up soil, fertilizer, oil, pesticides and other contaminants from hard surfaces and landscapes that run into local waterways. Rain barrels capture water that would have swept over a paved surface or lawn, thereby minimizing runoff pollutants.
There are many more reasons to consider rain barrels around your house, check out this article for more information.
