BRITE Bus

Since 2015, Bridgewater has been served by the Blue Ridge Intercity Transit Express – aka the BRITE bus, operated by the Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission (CSPDC).  Bridgewater is part of the Blue Ridge Community College (BRCC) North Route, which originates from BRCC and travels north to JMU’s Godwin Transit Center, then south to Dayton, Bridgewater, Mt. Crawford and ending back at BRCC.  BRCC North operates Monday through Friday.  Bus stops in Bridgewater are on Main Street at Bridgewater Foods, Dinkel Avenue across from Blue Ridge Christian School, and Dinkel near Bridgewater College’s Dillon Hall.

Due to declining evening usage, the BRCC North route will now end at 6 p.m. each weekday (it previously operated until 11 p.m. Monday-Thursday and until 8 p.m. on Fridays.)

The CSPDC and BRITE have posted an online survey for riders to share their comments.  Even if you haven’t used the BRITE bus, there is an open-ended comment box where you can share your feedback.  The survey will be open until Friday, May 19.

We’re sorry to see the reduction in service, as we believe there is value in having public transportation in Bridgewater.  We are hopeful that ridership will grow over time so that we might see north and south service from Bridgewater.
