Nationwide Emergency Alert Test – Tomorrow

Tomorrow, October 4, FEMA and the FCC will be conducting a nationwide test of its Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) and Emergency Alert System (EAS). This test will occur at approximately 2:20 p.m. (Your alert may be sent–or appear–between 2:20 p.m. and 2:50 p.m.)

The WEA will send a test alert to your cell phone. You will likely receive a message that says “This is a test of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed.” Your cell phone will likely ring, vibrate, or both (depending on your phone settings.)

The EAS test will appear on radio and television stations. Your regularly-scheduled programming may be interrupted with a message, most likely “This is a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System…This is only a test.”

Again, both of these tests will occur tomorrow at approximately 2:20 p.m. You can read more about the alert testing here.
