Holiday Traditions: Ice Skating & Icy the Elf!

Happy Thanksgiving! Generations Park’s Opening Day is today at 4:00 pm!  Tickets are going fast, so be sure to reserve them by calling (540) 908-3799 or online. We’ll also have 20 tickets available 15 minutes before the start of every session at the skate window. We are so happy many families are making the lasting holiday memory and tradition of visiting Generations Park on Thanksgiving Day!

We’ve also heard from some of our staff that they have spotted a familiar face around Town recently. First, the folks installing the new murals along Riverwalk saw a small, red figure hanging out by the bridge and checking out the awesome artwork. Then someone spotted a red blur headed into one of our businesses as a customer used their River Roos. Finally, last night the people making the final preparations at the ice rink saw something scurry past them and dive into the Christmas tree we will light this Sunday at 6:30 pm. When they went to check the tree, all they found was a letter – but it was a letter from Santa! Santa wrote to say that Icy the Elf is excited to return to Generations Park for the holiday season. In his visits the last two years, Icy has come to love our town and is excited to see all the wonderful things happening here, but his favorite thing to do is to help keep an eye on the rink until he needs to report back to the North Pole for Christmas.

While visiting the rink, we want everyone to do us a favor and be on the lookout for Icy because he really likes to move around. Keep in mind that Icy likes to be silly, but he is serious about safety, so he never spends time by the road or in the parking lot—don’t look for him there because you won’t find him!  If you spot him while you’re at the rink, please be sure not to touch him, but do stop by the skate counter to claim a treat!
