Thefts from motor vehicles typically increase during the holiday months. Recently we’ve had several thefts from vehicles or vehicles rummaged through in Bridgewater. In all these instances the vehicles were left unlocked.
Here are some tips to prevent your car from becoming a target and to keep the Grinch away this holiday season:
- Lock it or lose it. Always lock your car door and roll the windows up even if just leaving for a few minutes.
- Don’t leave valuables in plain sight. If possible, don’t leave anything of value in your vehicle but if you must, make sure to put them somewhere they can’t be seen when looking in the windows.
- If you notice any suspicious activity, notify the police immediately. Try to take note of the person’s appearance, license plate if they arrived in a vehicle, and direction of travel.
