The Town has updated its TMDL (Total Maximum Daily Load) Implementation Plan for Fecal Coliform Reduction for the North River Watershed. The original plan was implemented in 2015, with our goal of reducing bacteria from entering the North River by doing the following:
- A voluntary program of disconnecting households from failing septic tanks and connecting them to our public sanitary sewer system, and
- Implementing a pet waste management program, which included the installation of pet waste stations and appropriate signage in our parks.
Since 2015, 23 properties are no longer using septic tanks and are now connected to the public sewer system. We’ve also installed 20 pet waste stations and signage in parks across Town. Our updated TMDL plan will continue these efforts in the coming years. If you have any comments, please share them with stormwater@bridgewater.town.
