The Drug Enforcement Administration has designated today as National Drug Takeback Day and has set up takeback locations across the country. While these drop-off drives occur only twice per year, we have our own dropbox for the safe disposal of unwanted medications and prescription drugs available year-round at 201 Green Street just outside the Police Department.
Proper disposal of medications and prescription drugs not only helps prevent substance abuse but also protects the environment and water supply. Flushed medications don’t magically disappear; they just migrate to the groundwater or the river.
So on this National Drug Take Back Day, we encourage you to gather up unused and expired medications to bring to the town dropbox this week. (The Town Office is open Monday-Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm). It is an easy way for all residents to do their part to protect our community.
