Welcome Back, Icy!

It seems that Bridgewater has an extra sprinkle of Christmas magic in the air this year—because our mischievous friend, Icy the Elf, has been spotted around town again!

First, a maintenance employee reported seeing Icy perched proudly atop the freshly painted Depot at Oakdale. He looked absolutely delighted, taking in the twinkling Winter WonderLane lights being set up to brighten Oakdale Park. (See the picture of Icy hanging around at the Depot above.)

A few days later, when the technician arrived at Generations Park to power up the chillers and start prepping the ice, he swore he caught a glimpse of a tiny red blur darting between the water pumps! Could it have been Icy checking to make sure everything was nice and chilly for skating season?

And just when we thought things couldn’t get any stranger, the Parks and Rec team noticed a flash of movement zooming into the skate room when they were making ice. When they went to investigate, they found a note tucked neatly inside one of the skates. It was from Santa himself!

The note read:

“Icy the Elf is thrilled to return to Generations Park for the holiday season! He loves all the magic happening in Bridgewater and can’t wait to watch over the rink until it’s time to return to the North Pole for Christmas.”

Icy’s visits over the past few years have made him quite fond of our town—and he’s especially excited to keep an eye on all the skaters gliding through the season.

So, if you visit the rink, keep your eyes peeled! Icy loves to explore, and you never know where he might pop up next. But remember—he’s a responsible little elf! You won’t find him near the roads or parking lots (he’s all about safety).

If you happen to spot Icy during your visit, don’t touch him—his Christmas magic depends on that! Instead, stop by the skate counter and let us know where you found him to claim a special treat.

Welcome back, Icy! We can’t wait to see what festive fun you’ll bring to Bridgewater this season.
