Dementia Virtual Tour; Season’s Last Farmers Market

Learn More about Dementia at Virtual Tour

Valley Program for Aging Services is hosting its Virtual Dementia Tour (VDT) at Bridgewater Church of the Brethren on Sunday, October 18. This is an in-person simulation offering a glimpse of everyday life with dementia. The VDT is an evidence-based method of building a greater understanding of dementia. During a VDT experience, trained facilitators guide participants outfitted with patented devices that alter their senses while they try to complete common everyday tasks and exercises. The tour enables caregivers to experience for themselves the physical and mental challenges those with dementia face and use the experience to provide better person-centered care. The tour is intended to help you learn more about dementia, gain insight and empathy, experience common challenges, and discover new communication tools.

One-hour tours will be held from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. Call 540-615-5341 to register for this experience.

Last Farmers Market of the Season Today

Local vendors are holding a farmers market at Rebecca’s Well on Main Street this evening, October 2, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.

The market includes Revercomb Farms, Open Door Homestead, Southern Porch Homestead, Little Red Hen Bakery, Hannah Bees Apiary, SDG Crafts, After Its Kind, Overlook Farm South, and Elsie’s Coffee. They sell all kinds of local meats, produce, baked goods, and more! Rebecca’s Well is open throughout the market hours as well. While some vendors accept credit cards, others are only able to accept cash, so it’s best to have cash on hand.

This will be the last market of the season.
