B-Hydrated: Water Fountains Installed at Oakdale and Sandy Bottom

We are excited to announce that we have installed two new water fountains complete with a dog bowls and bottle fillers in Oakdale Park. The first replaces an existing one at Shelter 3 (the shelter nearest the ballfields), and the second adds one near the ballfields where there had been one years ago. These new fountains will continue to make Oakdale a go-to recreational space for playground visitors, ballplayers, picnickers, and dog walkers alike.

The fountains and materials were fully purchased through funds from AARP’s Community Challenge grant program. The AARP Community Challenge is a grant program to make tangible improvements in communities that jump-start long-term change. It is part of AARP’s nationwide Livable Communities initiative, which supports the efforts of cities, towns, neighborhoods and rural areas to become great places to live for people of all ages. The Town received $12,950 from AARP. The fountains cost less than originally estimated, so, with permission from AARP, we used the remaining funds to purchase a third fountain to replace one at the restrooms at Sandy Bottom Park. This upgrade also adds a bottle filler to that location.

“We are incredibly proud that AARP selected the Town for this investment to help make Bridgewater more livable for residents of all ages,” stated Katie Newman, Recreation Coordinator. “AARP is a national leader in supporting communities to become more livable, and we are honored they recognize the value and impact this project will bring to our area.”
