Internet Safety Series: Healthcare Fraud

We will be continuing our Internet Safety Series on Wednesday, June 28 at 6:30 p.m., covering the topic of “Healthcare Fraud.”

Healthcare Fraud will teach participants how to avoid certain fraud schemes affecting senior citizens.

This one-hour workshop, hosted by the Virginia Senior Medical Patrol, will educate seniors on how to prevent and report the most common healthcare scams. In addition, resources will be provided to help seniors keep themselves safe.

Shawn Smith is the State Director for the Virginia Senior Medicare Patrol, a program focused on empowering seniors to prevent, detect, and report healthcare errors, fraud, and abuse.  The program is sponsored by the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services under the Administration for Community Living (ACL) with the goal of protecting seniors and preserving Medicare resources.

Admission is free (seats will be first come, first serve) and concessions will be available for purchase.
