As we enter into spring mowing season, we want to offer a couple of reminders.
Keep grass clippings out of roadways. Grass clippings that end up in our streets not only look unsightly but can also create unsafe, slick conditions for motorcycles and bicycles. Additionally, grass clippings in the streets are swept up into our stormwater system after a rain. Under our stormwater plan, we are working hard to reduce pollution that makes its way into the river and causes adverse effects on our ecosystem. So please mow carefully and/or use a blower to clear the roads.
If you choose to dispose of your grass clippings (or other small vegetation) during our large item pickup, bag your clippings for large item pickup. Our crew does not collect loose clippings, so all clippings should be bagged.
Thank you for helping us make our streets safer and our water cleaner by keeping grass clippings out of the roadways!
