Bridgewater College has shared the following about their planned remembrance for February 1:
February 1st is a date that will always carry significant meaning at Bridgewater College.
There is no memorial ceremony on campus related to the event that took the lives of Campus Police Officer John Painter and Campus Safety Officer J. J. Jefferson, but the campus has invited community members to show respects to the fallen officers with the below events.
Sunday, February 1
9 am – 3 pm, Quiet Reflection and Remembrance, between Memorial and Flory Hall (403 East College Street)
All are welcome to share written thoughts, feelings, and reflections in a journal.
1:20 pm, Ringing of Memorial Hall Bell
The Memorial Hall Bell will ring twice at 1:20 pm in memory of Officers Painter and Jefferson.
The Town is placing a wreath in honor of Officers John Painter and J.J. Jefferson at the Memorial Garden in Oakdale Park. The public is invited to drop by during the day to pay their respects and give thanks for these brave servants of our community.
