Join us this upcoming Friday and Saturday, February 6 & 7, as we celebrate Charter Day! Charter Day commemorates the passing of Bridgewater’s initial charter as a Town on February 7, 1835.
Our annual “Big Block of Cheese Day” (BBCD) will be at the Town Office (201 Green Street) from 12:00 noon until 5:30 pm on Friday, February 6. BBCD harkens back to then-President Andrew Jackson’s setting aside a day for the public to speak with his cabinet and be served with a slice of cheese in the process. Town staff will be available to discuss your suggestions, concerns, and questions.
The conversation will continue on Saturday, February 7, at Cocoa with a Cop at Generations Park from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. Sit down with Bridgewater officers to share what’s on your mind and a cup of hot chocolate!
At 6:00 pm the festivities will move to Sipe Center with a celebration and presentation of the third annual ABLE Award. The ABLE Award will be presented to someone who has dedicated much of their life to making Bridgewater a better place to live and thus serve as “A Better Life Exemplar.” The program will also include live music. All residents are welcome to attend!
The celebration will end with this year’s Signature Event at Sipe Center- a talk by This Old House host Kevin O’Connor! O’Connor will reflect on the almost 50 years that the show has been on the air, share insights from working on old homes, and discuss the skills-trade gap. Tickets for the talk are $40 and available at www.sipecenter.com/liveperformances.
